A 23-year-old woman, originally from Kolkata, was reportedly gang-raped in Samastipur district on the night of March 20. She had been invited to a hotel in Samastipur by an acquaintance. Shortly after her arrival, four individuals allegedly abducted her and took her to another hotel where the assault is said to have occurred.
The victim successfully escaped from her captors on the morning of March 21 and promptly reported the incident to the women's police station. Based on her complaint, a case has been filed against six named individuals and one unidentified person.
As of March 22, 2026, police have apprehended two suspects: Dilip Kumar and Suresh Giri. Dilip Kumar, an employee at one of the involved hotels, has a previous arrest in 2023 for a prostitution-related offense. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities actively pursuing the remaining accused, including the hotel owner, who are currently at large.
