Bihar Power Engineer Arrested in Bribery Sting

In Bhagalpur district, a junior engineer from the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) and a private technician were arrested on Tuesday. They were allegedly caught red-handed accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 4,000.
The arrests were made by the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB). The bribe was demanded to process a new electricity connection for a complainant.
The operation was launched after a resident filed a complaint alleging the demand for the bribe. Following verification, a trap was set up at the power sub-station, leading to the apprehension of the duo.
Both individuals are currently under interrogation by vigilance officials. The VIB is conducting further investigations to determine if more individuals were involved in the bribery scheme.
