Home Guard Driver Arrested in Bihar Constable Exam Scam

Summary

  • Home Guard driver arrested for role in constable exam paper leak.
  • Accused allegedly supplied answers via mobile phone during exam.
  • Bihar's constable recruitment exam was later cancelled due to cheating.

A driver constable from the Home Guard and Fire Services, Janmejay Tiwari, was apprehended on July 3, 2026, in Majhiaon village, Bhojpur district. Tiwari had been a fugitive for several days in connection with the October 1, 2023, constable recruitment examination paper leak. He has since been remanded to judicial custody.

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar stated that Janmejay Tiwari allegedly facilitated the paper leak by distributing answer sheets using mobile phones to other implicated individuals. This operation was connected to the recruitment examination held at Ram Krishna Dwarka College in Patna.

Earlier investigations by the police had led to the arrests of constables Kamlesh Kumar and Om Prakash, along with Abhishek Kumar Singh. These individuals were also accused of transmitting answers to candidates via mobile devices during the examination.

Following widespread reports of cheating and the circulation of the question paper on social media platforms during the exam, the recruitment process was ultimately cancelled by authorities.

In a separate development, the EOU also apprehended Ramchandra Gupta, who had been evading authorities since 2020. Gupta's arrest is related to a disproportionate assets case involving allegations of forged land documents.
