Summary
- Vigilance seized Rs 79 lakh cash and 48 watches worth Rs 6 lakh.
- Disproportionate assets probe targets Patna ADM Ravindra Kumar Diwakar.
- Searches also covered Danapur sub-registrar Kumari Sweety's premises.
The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) conducted extensive searches on Monday, uncovering approximately Rs 79 lakh in cash, 48 watches valued at Rs 6 lakh, and property documents indicating assets worth around Rs 3 crore. These searches targeted premises associated with Patna ADM (Supply) Ravindra Kumar Diwakar and his wife, Kumari Sweety, who serves as a district sub-registrar in Danapur. The investigation stems from a disproportionate assets case registered against Diwakar.
Simultaneous raids took place at the couple's residences in Danapur and Begusarai. In Patna, over 100 bundles of Rs 500 notes, totaling around Rs 70 lakh, were found, alongside jewellery and land documents. The Begusarai ancestral property yielded over Rs 9 lakh in cash and substantial gold jewellery. Investigators are scrutinizing properties linked to Diwakar, his wife, and family members, including several flats and plots valued in the lakhs.
Diwakar, who transitioned from teaching to administrative roles in 2000, has held various positions including SDC and SDM before his current posting as ADM (Supply) in Patna in October 2025. Sweety, a sub-registrar since 2013, has been posted in Danapur since 2024. The recovered materials will be compared against their declared financial records to ascertain any assets disproportionate to their known income sources.
