A crude bomb explosion on the terrace of a residential building in Bhubaneswar's Airfield area on Tuesday left a history-sheeter and three others critically injured. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Sehnawaz Malik, is believed to have been assembling the explosive device at the time of the blast, which occurred on Tuesday.
Malik, who has a history of seven serious offenses including attempted murder and violations of the Arms Act, was with his mother and two other individuals when the incident took place. Bomb disposal squads, forensic experts, and fire services immediately responded to the scene, collecting evidence and seizing bomb-making materials from Malik's residence.
The explosion has sparked fear among residents of the building, who were unaware of the illegal activity. Authorities are investigating whether Malik was acting alone or with accomplices. This incident highlights significant safety concerns regarding the procurement of explosive materials and their assembly in residential zones.
