On October 25th, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Bengaluru, where a 19-year-old engineering student, Rahul GD, was allegedly murdered by his friend, Preetham, 20. The two had been friends for the past seven years, despite taking different paths in life, with Preetham failing his PUC exams while Rahul continued his studies in engineering.
The confrontation allegedly broke out after Rahul informed Preetham's mother, Leela, that her son had stolen her mangalya chain. Preetham had stolen the chain 10-12 days prior, only to discover that it was not entirely made of gold. He then falsely accused Rahul of the theft, leading to a heated argument between the two.
When Rahul and Preetham met on Cemetery Road in Krishnappa Layout, Preetham took out a knife and stabbed Rahul multiple times on his chest, shoulder, and thigh. Rahul was rushed to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries late at night. Preetham was arrested on Sunday and is currently in judicial custody.
The incident has left the community in shock, as the two friends had maintained a close relationship despite their different paths. The tragic turn of events serves as a stark reminder of the consequences that can arise from betrayal and the need for open communication and trust in relationships.
