Two students, one a 16-year-old boy and the other a 20-year-old engineering student, have been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly manipulating and coercing a minor into stealing gold from his family home. The incident came to light after a software engineer from Yeshwanthpur reported the disappearance of gold ornaments on October 9, 2025. The stolen items, last seen on October 1, 2025, vanished by June 10, 2025.
The minor confessed on March 25, 2026, revealing he was pressured by his friends to steal cash and later, gold ornaments. The accused, with the assistance of a 45-year-old acquaintance, sold the stolen gold to various jewelers. Police recovered 107 grams of gold in Malleshwaram and on Magadi Road, though the total amount stolen is believed to be higher. The juvenile has been placed in a boys' home, and the engineering student is in judicial custody, highlighting the dangers of peer pressure and exploitation.
