Sorcerer's Midnight Rituals Haunt Neighbors, Faces Legal Action

In Bengaluru, a self-styled sorcerer named Srinivas Swami has found himself in legal trouble after threatening a neighbor who complained about his late-night rituals and loud chanting. Swami, who runs the Shakti Shaneshwara Maha Sansthana, has been accused of performing strange occult practices at midnight to "chase ghosts haunting his devotees."
However, Swami's strange utterances and recitation of mantras and bhajans over a loudspeaker have left his neighbors in the Ullal Uppanagar area, near Kengeri, sleepless for many nights. One homemaker neighbor, unable to tolerate the disturbance anymore, filed a complaint with the police control room. A patrolling Hoysala vehicle arrived and warned Swami against playing loud music at night.
The following morning, Swami allegedly appeared at the homemaker's door and threatened her, saying she would "die by vomiting blood in one month" as he had cursed her for disturbing his ritual. Fearing for her safety, the neighbor decided to file a criminal case against Swami and approached a local court. The court directed the Jnanabharati police to register a case under the Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Act.
The neighbor also claimed that Swami had assaulted her son and issued dire threats when she objected to his midnight practices on October 19. The police have since registered an FIR against the accused and plan to issue a notice for him to appear for questioning. They have also strictly warned Swami against using loud music or shouting mantras at night.
