Staffer's Bold Rs 18 Crore Heist Shocks Bengaluru

A shocking heist, estimated at Rs 18 crore, has been attributed to domestic staff at a builder's residence in Bengaluru's Yamaluru area. The accused, identified as Dinesh and Kamala, a Nepalese couple, allegedly committed the theft on January 25 between 9 am and 12:30 pm. This incident occurred while the homeowner, businessman Shimanth S Arjun, and his family were away.

The couple, who had reportedly worked at the residence for only about 20 days, are accused of breaking open two lockers. The first locker yielded approximately 10 kg of gold and diamond ornaments. From a second locker, around 1.5 kg of gold, 5 kg of silver jewelry, and Rs 11.5 lakh in cash were reported missing. Authorities suspect the couple disabled CCTV cameras by cutting the power supply.

Police have registered a case under theft charges and are actively searching for the absconding couple. The complainant noted that the suspects had not provided identity proofs despite requests, raising suspicions about their background and employment.
