A planned family excursion to Tirupati was marred by a violent assault on the morning of August 4, 2026. As a couple prepared to depart from their Bengaluru residence, two men on a motorcycle accosted them. Initially, the men provoked the woman, and when her husband intervened regarding their riding, an argument ensued.
As the couple drove away, the assailants pursued them. One of the attackers, identified as 21-year-old Prithvi Raj, then assaulted the husband, slashing his right hand with a knife while he was in the car's driver seat. The husband managed to prevent further injury by rolling up the window. Raj's accomplice reportedly encouraged the attack.
Devarajeevanahalli police swiftly apprehended Prithvi Raj. The suspect admitted to having a prior dispute with the victim, citing familial issues as the motive for the confrontation and subsequent knife attack. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the involvement of Raj's friend.
