Bengaluru Aide Flees With Rs 2 Crore Gold

In Bengaluru, a family discovered a significant theft upon returning home on August 25. Their domestic helper, identified as Tulsi, who had been employed by them for approximately three years and resided on the premises, allegedly absconded with 1.5kg of gold jewellery exceeding Rs 2 crore in value, along with Rs 25,000 in cash.

The incident came to light when the family's son returned home around 3:30 PM to find the apartment door ajar. His father, Dilip Kaparthi, a gold businessman, was alerted and subsequently contacted the building's security. Upon his arrival around 4:30 PM, Kaparthi observed signs of tampering in the bedroom cupboard and discovered the safe locker missing.

Banashankari police were notified, and initial investigations, including CCTV footage review, indicate Tulsi leaving the complex with her belongings, possibly concealing the locker among them. Authorities are exploring the possibility that Tulsi had external assistance for the escape and are working to identify potential associates.

Following the theft, police issued advisories to residents regarding hiring domestic workers. They emphasized the importance of police verification, restricting access to valuables, and utilizing bank lockers for significant gold reserves, as highlighted by Joint Commissioner of Police (West) Vamsi Krishna.
