In a significant anti-narcotics operation, Bengaluru Customs officials intercepted a passenger arriving from Bangkok on June 5, 2026. A thorough inspection of the passenger's checked-in luggage revealed 10.20 kg of hydroponic ganja, estimated to be worth Rs 3.57 crore. The individual was subsequently arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This seizure underscores the vigilance of customs officers in preventing illicit substances from entering the country.
In a parallel development, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted a major seizure in Bihar on May 30, 2026. Officials confiscated 104.9 kg of ganja and apprehended two individuals involved in its transport. This operation is part of the DRI's continuous efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks across India. Over the past year, DRI's Lucknow Zonal Unit has seized drugs and psychotropic substances valued at approximately Rs 46.5 crore in Bihar alone, arresting 31 people.
