On Sunday, a tragic incident unfolded in Anekal, Bengaluru, as a young couple living together were found dead in their rented home. The bodies of Rakesh Kumar, 23, and Seema Nayak, 25, were discovered by their neighbors on Tuesday morning after they failed to respond from inside the locked house.
According to the police investigation, Rakesh first died by suicide, hanging himself from the ceiling fan. Seema, upon finding him, attempted to loosen the noose but was unable to save him. Devastated, she then took her own life in the same manner. Forensic experts estimate the deaths occurred just after midnight on Sunday.
The couple, both originally from Odisha, had moved to Anekal around three months ago in search of jobs. Rakesh worked as a housekeeper, while Seema was employed as a supermarket assistant. Their close friend, Jora Nayak, revealed that Rakesh had been suspicious of Seema having an affair and the two fought frequently over this. Rakesh's alcohol addiction was also a source of constant conflict between the pair.
The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, as they grapple with the loss of the young lives. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking double suicide.
