On Thursday, February 5, 2026, a vehicle repossession attempt in Bell County, Texas, led to a confrontation involving a firearm. The incident occurred on Sparta Road, west of Belton, when the tow-truck driver was attempting to repossess a vehicle from a residence.
Ryan Neal Amos emerged from the home and confronted the tow-truck driver, brandishing a handgun. As the driver fled, Amos discharged the firearm, hitting the tow truck. Deputies responded but Amos refused to exit his residence, prompting the deployment of the Bell County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiators.
The Temple Police Department assisted by providing aerial surveillance with a drone. Following negotiations, Amos surrendered peacefully and was arrested. Investigators later executed a search warrant, seizing evidence related to the incident. The Bell County District Attorney's Office accepted the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Justice of the Peace Nicola James set Amos's bond at $45,000. He is currently held at the Bell County Jail.
