A fresh appeal for information has been issued by West Yorkshire Police, marking ten months since a severe assault left Dawud Aslam with devastating life-changing injuries. The incident, which occurred in January in Tempest Road, Beeston, saw Mr. Aslam struck multiple times over the head with a blunt weapon while he was with his brother. The force has stated that Mr. Aslam was "lucky to be alive" following the brutal attack.
The victim sustained numerous skull fractures and required emergency surgery. Beyond the physical trauma, Mr. Aslam continues to grapple with long-lasting physical and mental health issues. These include cognitive impairments and a persistent fear of going out, highlighting the profound and ongoing impact of the assault. The police are treating the case as attempted murder and stress the importance of any information, however small.
Detective Constable Ian Duncan, leading the investigation, highlighted that "a lot can change in 10 months, including people's loyalties." He urged individuals who may have heard rumors at the time, even if they did not witness the crime directly, to contact the police. The appeal emphasizes that such information could be crucial in bringing those responsible to justice and providing closure for the victim, who endures daily consequences from the attack.
