A violent confrontation unfolded on a busy high street in Wales when workers from two rival Turkish barber shops, Kurds Barbers and Marmaris Turkish barbers, clashed. The dispute, described as a 'turf war,' escalated into a large-scale brawl involving thirteen men on February 13. During the fight, weapons such as scissors and spanners were brandished, alarming bystanders and prompting an off-duty detective to alert emergency services.
Four individuals required hospital treatment following the incident, with one treated for stab wounds. Fortunately, police confirmed none of the injuries were life-threatening or life-changing. Footage of the shocking public disorder was widely shared online. The altercation reportedly stemmed from plans by one barber, Omed Pirot, to open a new shop in an area already served by the rival business.
At Cardiff Crown Court, Omed Pirot and Shahab Husseini were found guilty of violent disorder and affray, while others admitted to affray. Judge Daniel Williams acknowledged the seriousness of the public violence but ultimately handed down suspended sentences to the defendants. They were ordered to complete unpaid community work and pay court costs, avoiding immediate prison time for their involvement in the street battle.
