Bank of Baroda Data Breach: 1TB Sold on Dark Web
28 Jul
Summary
- Over 1TB of sensitive Bank of Baroda data is allegedly being sold.
- The compromised data includes Aadhaar numbers, loans, and banking details.
- A hacker group named Triplx X is suspected to be behind the breach.

A major cyberattack has reportedly compromised Bank of Baroda's systems, with a threat actor claiming to sell over 1TB of sensitive data on the dark web. The alleged breach includes personal and corporate banking details, such as Aadhaar numbers, loan information, and records from multiple branches nationwide. Sample documents shared online suggest the compromised data encompasses savings and current account records, NetBanking user details, and internal bank documents.
Srikanth Lakshmanan, a software engineer, identified the breach and described it as a "cyber disaster." He believes the relatively new hacking group Triplx X may be behind the attack, citing their previous involvement in a breach of an Indonesian bank in May 2026, where they stole approximately 2TB of data. While Bank of Baroda has not yet officially commented, CERT-In and the Reserve Bank of India have also not confirmed the incident. This event highlights growing cybersecurity concerns within the banking sector.
