Ballia Police Seize Rs 17 Lakh Liquor Haul

On Friday, police in the Bairiya police station area of Ballia district successfully intercepted a pickup vehicle carrying a substantial illegal liquor consignment. Officers discovered 315 cartons containing 2,780.04 liters of various English liquor brands, with an estimated value of Rs 17,70,000.

The illicit goods were found after a high-speed chase. A police team attempted to stop the pickup truck on the Dokati Bairiya border, but the driver accelerated and fled. Suspecting illegal cargo, the police pursued the vehicle, which eventually swerved into a field and was abandoned by its occupants.

Authorities have identified the vehicle's owner as Nitesh Kumar, a resident of Badka Nagar Murli Chhapra, Ballia. A case has been registered against both Kumar and the unidentified driver under Section 60(1)/63 of the IPC, as the investigation into the liquor smuggling operation continues.
