An Australian father, identified as 56-year-old Damien John Shaw, is suspected of committing a double murder-suicide in southern Bali, Indonesia. The bodies of his children, 4-year-old Laura and 6-year-old Archie, were discovered on September 13th. Police reported that Shaw died by suicide.
The children's mother, who was away at the time, became concerned after a phone call with Shaw was abruptly ended and she heard Laura crying. Upon checking the home's CCTV, she witnessed Shaw chasing Laura, who pleaded "I love you, Daddy." Authorities believe Shaw first killed his son, Archie, and then pursued Laura, who was attempting to flee after witnessing the act.
A worker, sent to check on the family at the mother's request, found the children's bodies. Neighbors described the children as "very kindly" and "very cute." A friend of Shaw's indicated that he had been experiencing mental health difficulties following a financial loss of $140,000 from a recent venture.
