Summary
- Thirty-eight tons of trash removed from 17 encampments.
- Eight individuals arrested for trespassing and illegal lodging.

Bakersfield authorities recently completed a large-scale operation targeting homeless encampments, clearing 17 sites and hauling away 38 tons of trash. The extensive clean-up, requiring multiple rolloff bins and grapple loads, was a collaborative effort involving Bakersfield Public Works, Code Enforcement, Animal Control, and other city departments.
During a recent sweep near Madison Street and East Belle Terrace, eight people were arrested and booked into jail. Charges included illegal lodging and trespassing, alongside any active warrants. Three dogs were also seized and transported to the local animal shelter.
These crucial operations are financed through the Bakersfield Public Safety & Vital Services Measure, known as Measure N. Residents concerned about homelessness can contact the BPD Community Vitality Unit or report encampments via the Bakersfield Mobile App or online portal.
