Elliot Staples III received a six-month jail sentence for the tragic shooting death of 3-year-old Jajuan Robinson, Jr., which occurred in October 2024. Staples pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in September of last year. He was caring for Jajuan while the child's mother was at work when the incident transpired.
Staples had placed his gun on the kitchen island before stepping away to use the bathroom. Tragically, Jajuan discovered the unsecured firearm and discharged it, sustaining a fatal head injury. Staples was subsequently sentenced to begin his jail term on March 3, along with a requirement to pay $7,500 in restitution. Following his incarceration, he will be subject to five years of supervised probation.
