Police in Vijayawada's NTR district have apprehended three individuals involved in an illegal child trafficking network, successfully rescuing a three-day-old baby girl. The arrested trio includes Konatham Venkata Krishna Reddy, his wife Konatham Shiva Parvathi, and Syed Alam.
The couple, residents of Prakasam district, had been attempting to have a child for several years. Their search led them to an IVF hospital in Delhi, where they allegedly connected with an employee offering to arrange a newborn for a substantial fee. They reportedly paid Rs 6.59 lakh in installments.
Three days prior to their arrest, the couple traveled to Delhi to take custody of the infant. Syed Alam, believed to be the husband of the Delhi IVF employee, accompanied them on their journey back to Andhra Pradesh. Police intercepted the group near Rajiv Gandhi park.
The rescued newborn has been transferred to protective care. Authorities have registered a case under human trafficking and infant sale laws, launching a full investigation into the network.
