Summary
- A baby girl was abducted from a hospital 17 years ago.
- A striking resemblance to a new student led to the discovery.
- DNA tests confirmed the abducted child's identity.

In April 1997, a newborn girl was abducted from a Cape Town hospital, marking the beginning of a decades-long mystery. Seventeen years later, in January 2015, Miche Zephany Sheldon, then a high school student, encountered a new girl at school named Cassidy Nurse. The pair shared a remarkable resemblance and an instant connection.
This striking similarity led Cassidy's parents to inquire about Miche's birthdate, which coincided with the abduction. Subsequent DNA tests indisputably proved Miche was Zephany Nurse, the child stolen from Groote Schuur Hospital. The woman who raised Miche, Lavona Solomon, was arrested for kidnapping and fraud.
Miche has spoken of the difficult adjustment to meeting her biological parents, noting the absence of an immediate connection compared to her upbringing with Lavona and Michael Solomon. Despite the pain caused, she maintains a refusal to view Lavona as purely villainous, emphasizing the need for healing.
