A fragile infant, estimated to be mere hours old, was discovered abandoned inside a cement bag in a secluded DLF Phase IV area on February 6. The baby, who was premature, was found covered in sand and in critical condition, with dropping heart rate and oxygen levels.
Doctors at Max Hospital provided intensive care for 48 hours, with a team of four doctors and twelve nursing staff working to stabilize the infant. The baby boy, initially on the brink of death, has now been moved out of intensive care and is considered out of danger, showing no signs of brain damage.
Treatment costs are being fully covered by the hospital, as no family members have come forward. Police identified the 22-year-old mother from Sushant Lok within a week. The child welfare committee will determine further actions regarding custody and any potential arrests following the baby's expected hospital discharge on Monday.
