The Azamgarh police are actively seeking Vipendra Singh, an absconding accused in a cough syrup case, offering a reward of Rs 25,000 for his apprehension. Singh, a resident of Jethhari village, is wanted following a complaint by drug inspector Seema Verma. A case was registered against him at the Didarganj police station on December 12, under serious sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Vipendra Singh has a significant criminal record, with a history sheet opened on October 10, 2018. A total of 12 cases are registered against him at various police stations, involving charges such as attempt to murder, Arms Act, Gangsters Act, IT Act, and SC/ST Act. His ongoing absence from law enforcement has prompted the substantial reward.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Anil Kumar, announced the cash reward on December 27, underscoring the seriousness of the fugitive's alleged crimes. The police are intensifying efforts to locate and arrest Singh, who has evaded authorities.
