A significant rescue operation was conducted by Azamgarh police on Sunday, leading to the apprehension of a 19-year-old accused and the safe recovery of a minor girl. The case originated when the girl left her home without informing her family, prompting a registration at Bardah police station on June 12. Investigations revealed allegations of the accused luring the minor away, misleading her into marriage, and establishing physical relations.
Charges under the Pocso Act and other serious sections were subsequently added to the case. Acting on direction from SSP Anil Kumar, a police team tracked the accused, initially locating him in Gujarat. However, by the time the team arrived, the accused's location had shifted back to Azamgarh.
On Sunday, police successfully traced the accused and the minor near Jivli Tiraha in Azamgarh. Upon sighting the law enforcement team, the accused reportedly attempted to flee but was apprehended. The rescued minor girl was found safe, concluding the immediate pursuit.
