Car Ramming Attack: Couple Convicted of Attempted Murder

In Wolverhampton, a man has been convicted of attempted murder for using his car as a weapon. Melvin Winters, 46, deliberately struck a 42-year-old man twice with his Vauxhall Insignia. The incident took place on Pope Road in The Scotlands on July 2.
Following the collisions, which left the victim seriously injured on the ground, Winters' girlfriend, Josie James, 32, exited the vehicle. She proceeded to steal a gold chain from the incapacitated victim before both perpetrators fled the scene. The victim sustained severe injuries to his legs, ribs, and shoulder.
Officers quickly identified and apprehended the couple three days after the attack. Despite their initial denials, both were convicted of robbery on December 18. Winters additionally faced and was convicted of attempted murder during a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Sentencing for both is scheduled for February 10.
