A shooting incident on Tuesday morning critically injured a woman inside a downtown Atlanta restaurant. The alleged gunman has been taken into custody by authorities who are investigating the events leading to the violence.
The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Marietta Street NW, near the Georgia State University campus. Police reported that a dispute had escalated inside the restaurant earlier that morning. The suspect reportedly left the premises, only to return with a firearm and discharge it.
The female victim, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Grady Hospital in critical condition. Fortunately, the male individual who was the apparent target of the shooting escaped injury.
Responding officers and campus police quickly secured the scene. The suspect was detained while exiting the restaurant, and a weapon was recovered. Authorities have not yet disclosed the suspect's name or filed formal charges.
No other injuries were reported in connection with the event. Investigators are actively interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage to ascertain the cause of the initial altercation. Police have assured the public there is no ongoing threat.
