Authorities apprehended a suspect on January 6, 2026, in connection with a severe hit-and-run incident that occurred near U.S. 441 and Woodsmere Avenue. The incident involved a Ryder box truck colliding with a bicyclist, who was then dragged before the truck fled the scene.
Emergency services arrived to find the bicycle heavily damaged. The injured cyclist suffered critical wounds, including internal bleeding and a pelvic fracture, necessitating an immediate surgical intervention. The driver failed to stop or provide assistance after the collision.
Following the incident, a witness tracked the suspected truck to Interstate 4 near mile marker 90A. Law enforcement, including the Florida Highway Patrol and Orange County Sheriff's Office, took Jose Batista Grullon into custody and charged him with hit and run involving serious bodily injury or death.
