The cyber crime police station in Jind has successfully dismantled a gang that defrauded young individuals by impersonating Army officers on social media platforms. Two members of this scam operation, Vipin Saraswat and Kaushal from Faridabad, have been apprehended.
According to Inspector Kuldeep Singh, the operation began after a complaint was filed on December 29, 2025. The victim reported being contacted via Instagram by an account claiming to be a girl whose father was an Army officer. Over time, the scammers convinced the victim to transfer a total of ₹3.5 lakh using multiple UPI IDs, citing fabricated reasons like trip fees and accidents.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered. Investigations involving Instagram ID records, call detail records, KYC information, and scientific evidence led to the arrest of Vipin Saraswat and Kaushal. The police also recovered ₹23,500 in connection with the case. Both arrested individuals have been presented in court and remanded to district jail.
