20 Jul
Summary
- Court issued a warrant for gangster Anmol Bishnoi's production.
- Bishnoi is accused of orchestrating the murder of Baba Siddique.
- Siddique was shot dead outside his son's office on October 12, 2024.

Ten days after the trial court noted police inaction, it has now issued a warrant for the production of absconding accused Anmol Bishnoi in the murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddique. Bishnoi, allegedly the main accused, is currently held in Tihar Jail after his deportation from the U.S. in November 2025.
The court also allowed a plea for a proclamation against another wanted accused, Shubham Lonkar. This action follows a July 10 order where the court directed the crime branch to "scrupulously follow the law" to ensure Bishnoi's presence.
Baba Siddique, a former minister, was shot dead on October 12, 2024, by three assailants outside his son Zeeshan's office in Bandra. The court expressed dissatisfaction with the need to direct compliance with basic legal procedures for apprehending an accused.
Siddique's wife had filed a plea alleging deliberate avoidance by the prosecution in taking the principal accused into custody. Her legal team argued for Bishnoi's immediate arrest and trial alongside the 27 other individuals already chargesheeted under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.
