A significant sculpture, standing 27ft tall and constructed from more than 100,000 bladed weapons, has returned to Shropshire. This angel figure, created by sculptor Alfie Bradley in 2018 using weapons relinquished to police forces nationwide, is now touring the UK.
Its current stop is Shrewsbury, where it will be displayed in the town centre for the next six weeks. The town council plans to collaborate with local schools and community groups on a series of activities. The statue aims to convey a strong message against knife crime and honor those lost to it.
Town clerk Helen Ball emphasized the statue's role in promoting community collaboration for safer neighborhoods. Clive Knowles, chairman of the British Ironworks Centre, expressed delight that Shrewsbury is joining the initiative against violence.
