Anadarko Public Schools announced Thursday the suspension with pay of football coach and athletic director Kent Jackson. This action follows Jackson's appearance in Caddo County District Court on October 29.
The 56-year-old coach faces misdemeanor charges including assault and battery, threatening an act of violence, and leaving the scene of an accident involving damage. These charges stem from an alleged incident on October 16.
Jackson is accused of physically assaulting an individual after a vehicular collision, threatening them, and then leaving the scene without exchanging information. He is currently free on a $5,000 bond, with his next court date set for January 20.
The school district clarified that the suspension is a precautionary measure and does not imply a determination of guilt. They affirmed their dedication to student well-being and a thorough investigation.
Jackson, an Anadarko alumnus, previously coached the team from 2004 to 2018, leading them to state titles in 2011 and 2013. He returned as coach in 2020 after serving as athletic director. This season, the Anadarko Warriors have a 3-5 record.
