Babra police in Amreli district successfully intercepted a private ambulance engaged in the smuggling of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) on the Bhavnagar-Rajkot highway. Acting on specific intelligence, authorities set up a trap that led to the stop of the vehicle. During a thorough inspection, police discovered a specially fabricated secret compartment within the ambulance. This hidden cavity was found to contain 1,968 bottles of IMFL, each 180ml, with a combined value of Rs 3,56,688. The seized liquor was identified as premium whisky brands intended for sale in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities confiscated the contraband, the ambulance valued at Rs 7 lakh, and a mobile phone worth Rs 10,000, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 10.66 lakh. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Sagar alias Lalo Kamlesh Gohel from Gondal, has been taken into custody. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him under the Gujarat Prohibition Act. This operation occurs amid an intensified crackdown by Gujarat police following a recent hooch tragedy.
