Summary
- 1,800 Alprazolam tablets and abortion kits seized.
- Two men arrested transporting drugs from Ahmedabad.
- Investigation to trace supply chain and key persons.

On the night of August 18, 2026, a joint team from the Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) and Anand SOG intercepted a motorcycle on the national highway near Vadodara. The interception resulted in the seizure of 1,800 tablets of Alprazolam, 40 abortion kits, and 20 pregnancy test kits from two individuals. The accused, Darshan Goklani and Dileep M Thakor, were apprehended during the operation.
Officials reported that the seized Alprazolam tablets are classified as controlled substances under the NDPS Act. Additionally, the abortion kits, identified as Schedule H drug kits, were found to be stored without the necessary licenses or valid purchase documentation. Initial investigations suggest the drugs were being transported from Ahmedabad to Vadodara.
Following their arrest, the accused allegedly informed investigators that they procured the illicit stock from a person named Vishal Thakkar in Ahmedabad. Samples from the seized abortion kits are being sent to the Food and Drug Laboratory in Vadodara for detailed analysis, including tests for Mifepristone and Misoprostol. The Anand SOG has initiated a comprehensive investigation to uncover the full extent of the supply chain and identify all individuals involved in this illegal operation.
