Suspect Confesses to Violent Crime in Begumpet

On October 25, 2025, a tragic incident unfolded in Hyderabad, where a 38-year-old man from Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh was arrested for the alleged rape and murder of a woman. The victim's body was discovered near an eatery in Begumpet earlier this week.

During the investigation, the Panjagutta police traced and apprehended the accused, Y Reddappa. Upon interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that he had met the woman on the night of October 22 near Greenlands, Begumpet. After a brief conversation, the two moved to a nearby secluded spot, consumed liquor, and engaged in consensual sex. However, when the accused later attempted it again, the woman resisted. In a fit of rage, he assaulted, throttled, and violated her again, leading to her death.

The incident came to light on October 23 when a tea stall owner, P Pandu, reported that an unconscious woman was lying in front of Sri Sathya Tiffin and Meals Center, opposite Imperial House Apartments in Begumpet. Police reached the spot and found the woman dead, with visible injuries on her face and other parts of her body. A liquor bottle and some food items were also found beside her.

The accused has since been produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
