On the night of October 14, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in the village of Para Pratappur in Kanpur, India. Kundan, a 35-year-old laborer with an alcohol addiction, returned home intoxicated around midnight and first assaulted his wife, Sita, with sticks. When Kundan's father, Ramshankar, protested, Kundan also beat him.
Kundan then turned his rage towards his 24-year-old younger brother, Virat, who was sleeping in a room near the house. Kundan overturned Virat's cot and severely beat him. During the assault, Kundan pressed Virat's head into the slush on the road in front of the house, resulting in his death.
Hearing the commotion, nearby residents rushed to the scene. They pulled Virat out of the slush, but he had already stopped breathing. The villagers then apprehended Kundan and alerted the police. The Bithoor police and a forensic team arrived at the location, and the accused was taken into custody. The deceased's body was sent for a post-mortem examination, and legal action is being taken against Kundan.
