AIIMS Staff Attacked Near School

Two employees of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) were assaulted by a group of unidentified men near a private school in Bhopal's Amrai area in the early hours of Sunday, August 9, 2026. The attack occurred around 2 AM as the two employees, Sushant and Rishabh, were returning home on a scooter after completing their night shift. One assailant allegedly stepped in front of their scooter, forcing them to stop, before he and two to three others began assaulting them. Sushant was struck on the head with a stone during the assault, which appeared to be an attempted robbery. Rishabh also sustained injuries. The employees managed to escape and subsequently reported the incident on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The Bag Sewania police have registered a case and initiated a search for the perpetrators. The incident has intensified concerns regarding the safety of AIIMS employees who work night shifts, as inadequate residential facilities within the institute necessitate late-night travel for many staff members.
