On Wednesday, a lavish 25th wedding anniversary celebration in Ahmedabad was interrupted by a police raid at the Nirvana Greens Weekend Homes. Authorities acted on a tip-off, uncovering an illegal liquor and hookah party attended by 81 guests. The attendees, who included prominent builders, doctors, and business professionals, were aged between 35 and 45.
During the raid, police confiscated numerous bottles of foreign liquor, 11 hookah pipes, and more than 20 luxury vehicles. The 81 detainees consisted of 43 males and 38 females. While the male guests were taken for medical tests, female guests received legal notices. Investigations are ongoing to identify the organizers and the source of the prohibited substances, with authorities emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal gatherings in the Sanand area.
The seized vehicles and items remain in police custody as background checks are conducted on all participants. Formal charges are being prepared under the Prohibition Act, marking a significant enforcement action against such illicit events within the city's affluent circles.
