28 Aug
Summary
- A man serving a life sentence was arrested for murder.
- The arrest is linked to a long-standing rivalry between two groups.
- The victim identified his alleged attackers before dying.

In Ahmedabad, a man previously convicted of murder and serving a life sentence, who was out on suspension of sentence, was arrested on Thursday night. He is accused, along with an accomplice, of murdering a 40-year-old man in Krishnanagar.
The victim, Dilip Sonkar, was found critically injured near the Thakkarnagar water tank. Before losing consciousness, Dilip identified Bharat Chunara and Rohit Dantani as his attackers, stating the motive was an old enmity.
Investigators suspect the latest killing is a consequence of a long-standing rivalry between two groups. A prior incident in 2018 involving the victim's associates and the accused's brother allegedly escalated tensions, leading to a murder case in 2020 for which Bharat and his brother were convicted and sentenced.
Dilip Sonkar sustained a head injury and two stab wounds. He was declared dead on arrival at Civil Hospital.
