5 Sep
Summary
- Former AGT contestant arrested for murder and child abuse.
- Child drowned in apartment pool while in Vinson's care.
- Vinson faces a $750,000 bond and upcoming court date.
Deshundre Vinson, a 22-year-old former contestant on America's Got Talent, was arrested on Wednesday, September 2, in Tennessee. He faces charges of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated child abuse.
The charges are connected to a tragic incident on Sunday, August 16, where a 4-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a Central Avenue apartment complex in Chattanooga. Vinson, who had gained national recognition with the R&B group Citi Limitz, was babysitting the child at the time.
Authorities responded to the apartment complex for a separate incident and discovered CPR in progress on the 4-year-old boy. The child was transported to a hospital and passed away after five days in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Surveillance footage indicated the child had been underwater for approximately nine minutes before being pulled out. Investigators determined Vinson was responsible for the child and his sibling that day, and had allowed them to go to the pool unsupervised. Vinson's next court date is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8.
