In a swift conclusion to a harrowing case, a special Pocso court in Firozabad has sentenced a 35-year-old man to life imprisonment. The conviction stems from the kidnapping and brutal rape of an 11-year-old girl.
The trial, which commenced following the March 10 incident, was concluded in just 90 days. Judge Mumtaz Ali delivered the verdict, citing compelling evidence, witness testimonies, and the survivor's impactful statement. The court mandated a life sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 55,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional four months of incarceration.
The incident unfolded when the young victim was lured away from a field near her village by the accused, who offered her chocolates. He then transported her on his motorcycle to a secluded location by a canal, where he committed the assault and attempted to silence her. Fortunately, her cries alerted nearby villagers who intervened and apprehended the perpetrator.
Following the attack, the girl's father filed a police complaint. Authorities registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Pocso Act, swiftly filing a chargesheet after the accused's arrest.
