A TikTok and Instagram influencer, Luke Tarrant, 30, is warning the public about fraudsters using his identity to scam followers. Tarrant, who previously lost a leg in a motorbike accident, discovered that a fake Facebook page impersonating him was soliciting money from his followers. The scammer privately messaged individuals, asking for any amount they could spare due to alleged recent difficulties.
Tarrant expressed extreme anger and disgust upon learning that someone had been tricked into transferring their life savings to this fake profile. He has actively reported the fraudulent activity to Meta, the parent company of Facebook. A spokesperson for Meta confirmed that the page was removed for violating their policies. Tarrant also shared his concerns on his Instagram page, alerting his more than 770,000 followers about the theft of his videos for use on fake accounts.
