Accused Killer of American Idol Boss Deemed Unfit for Trial
14 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Suspect Raymond Boodarian, 22, ruled incompetent to stand trial
- Couple Robin Kaye and Tom Deluca murdered in their $4.5M LA home
- Boodarian to receive psychiatric treatment with medication

In a shocking turn of events, the 22-year-old man accused of murdering a longtime American Idol boss and her husband has been deemed unfit to stand trial. According to court documents, Raymond Boodarian was facing the possibility of a death sentence for the July killings of Robin Kaye and her songwriter husband Tom Deluca at their $4.5 million Los Angeles home.
However, on November 14, 2025, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Maria Cavalluzzi ruled that Boodarian was "not presently competent to stand trial" due to a psychiatric condition. The judge ordered the suspect to be moved to a state facility for treatment with psychotropic medication, arguing that "restoration is in the interest of justice" given the severity of the homicide case.
