- An elderly man was allegedly killed due to mistaken identity.
- A $50 million ransom was demanded from the wrong family.

Gerard Andrews, 29, and Daniel Stevens, 24, have been charged with murder following the alleged kidnapping and death of 85-year-old Chris Baghsarian. Police allege the pair mistakenly abducted Mr. Baghsarian, believing he was the father of a wealthy property developer, and demanded a $50 million ransom.
The pair allegedly forced Mr. Baghsarian into a car and later killed him at a secluded home in Dural. His body was discovered at a golf course in Pitt Town. Andrews, a cybersecurity student from an affluent family, and Stevens, a former apprentice carpenter, appeared in Blacktown Local Court.
Stevens' former employer described him as polite and well-mannered, expressing shock at the allegations. Andrews' lawyer stated his client was "no mastermind" in the alleged plot. A third man, Naden Moore, 19, was also arrested and charged with setting property on fire and participating in a criminal group.
