More than three years after parts of her dismembered body were discovered, the ex-husband and in-laws of Hong Kong model Abby Choi have gone on trial. Alex Kwong, his brother Anthony Kwong, and their father, Kwong Kau, appeared in court on Monday, September 21, 2026. They are charged with murder and preventing the lawful burial of a body in connection with Choi's February 2023 death.
Authorities discovered two legs believed to belong to Choi in a refrigerator and a skull, ribs, and hair in a cooking pot at a rental home in Hong Kong's Tai Po district. A meat slicer and electric saw were also recovered from the residence. Police arrested Choi's ex-husband and his family shortly after the discovery, citing a financial dispute between Choi and her former husband's family as a potential motive.
Choi, a 28-year-old model and mother of four, was reported missing on February 21, 2023. Alex Kwong was apprehended at a ferry pier while reportedly attempting to flee Hong Kong by speedboat. The jury trial is anticipated to span 45 days.
