Summary
- Drugs estimated at £4 million were found hidden in a lorry.
- A joint operation involved police from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- A 53-year-old man faces charges related to drug possession and supply.

Police in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have successfully intercepted a substantial quantity of illegal drugs. The operation, a collaboration between the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and An Garda Síochána, led to the seizure of cannabis with an estimated street value of £4 million.
The discovery occurred on Monday when officers searched a lorry that had traveled from Scotland to Larne Harbour. The illicit substances were found concealed within boxes inside the vehicle.
Authorities suspect the large volume of drugs was intended to be distributed among various organised crime groups operating throughout the island of Ireland. As a result of the seizure, a 53-year-old man has been charged with several offenses. These include possession of a Class B controlled drug and possession with intent to supply, alongside charges related to driving without a licence and insurance.
The accused is scheduled to appear before Antrim Magistrates' Court, sitting at Ballymena Magistrates' Court, on Tuesday morning to face the charges.
