Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with Texas Rangers and the FBI, has achieved a significant breakthrough in the 1986 cold case of Deanna Ogg. Bobby Charles Taylor Sr., 60, has been arrested and charged with capital murder for the death of the 16-year-old New Caney High School student. Ogg disappeared on September 27, 1986, while walking home and was later found murdered. An earlier conviction was overturned due to DNA evidence proving innocence.
Investigators identified Taylor Sr. as a suspect in 2024 through advanced DNA testing and genealogy research. At the time of identification, Taylor Sr. was a fugitive in Mexico on an unrelated felony charge. He surrendered to FBI agents in Mexico City on April 24, 2026, and was subsequently extradited to Texas. He is currently held at the Montgomery Co. Jail, facing potential capital punishment if convicted.
Ogg's mother expressed profound gratitude to law enforcement for their dedication in bringing closure to the family, who are now beginning to grieve. Investigators are continuing to examine Taylor Sr.'s crime history and are seeking information from anyone who knew him in the 1980s, suspecting there may be other victims.
