Trio Arrested in $3 Million Methaqualone Bust at Mumbai Airport

Earlier this week, on October 3, 2025, authorities at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminals in Mumbai arrested three individuals for attempting to smuggle a large quantity of methaqualone into the country. The suspects, Fauzan Khan, his wife Samaiya Fauzan Khan, and another man named Mujib Shaikh, had arrived from Bangkok and managed to bypass customs by walking through the green channel without declaring the illegal drugs in their possession.
According to the Customs officials, the trio was carrying a total of 3 kilograms of methaqualone, a synthetic drug also known as Quaalude, which has an estimated street value of 3 crore rupees, or approximately $3 million. The arrest was part of an ongoing effort by the authorities to crack down on the smuggling of narcotics through the city's international airport.
The three suspects are currently in custody and facing charges related to the attempted drug trafficking. Investigators are working to determine the source of the methaqualone and any potential connections the individuals may have to larger drug trafficking networks.
