Early Tuesday, June 25, 2026, deputies at the Shelby County Penal Farm in Memphis apprehended three men in connection with an attempted prison break-in. The suspects, Carloss Wilkins, Ladarius Munn, and Jamie Rusan, were charged with aggravated burglary and conspiring to bring contraband into the institution.
Investigators observed two individuals exiting a vehicle with bags near the Penal Farm around 2 a.m. The suspects were seen hiding from a patrol car before proceeding towards the Inmate Reception Area. One suspect used bolt cutters to breach a barbed-wire fence, while the other passed bags of contraband through the opening.
Authorities apprehended Wilkins in a wooded area with two bags of contraband and bolt cutters. Munn was found inside the facility perimeter with three additional bags of contraband. Their driver, Rusan, was later arrested at a Memphis residence. The smuggled items reportedly included marijuana, cell phones, medication, and vaping materials.
Wilkins is being held on a $600,000 bond, and Munn on a $250,000 bond. Rusan is being held without bond. All three are scheduled for court appearances next week.
